Which Australian actor is this? Born in Melbourne on 19 June 1938, this actor, television producer and screenwriter found out in middle age he was adopted. He began his professional acting career on the stage in 1959 and in the late 60s started appearing in TV roles in classic Australian shows none of us have heard of, including in series made by the famous Reg Grundy productions. He went on to work behind the scenes for Grundy, producing cult serial Prisoner in which he also had a recurring role. He took up his most famous role in 1987, and despite being killed off in 1991 he returned in 1996, going on to become one of soap's longest serving characters. He later joked that when he auditioned for other roles he would be told "Oh you were in Neighbours, you were Harold, you couldn't possibly be a murdering paedophile".
